"When Kristen pitched the idea for a picture book that would use the Bible to teach children how to recognize the Spirit, as her editor, I was instantly invested.
I believe in the importance of understanding how the Spirit works and, as a picture book author, I wanted to help make sure that this story would reach as many children as possible.
In fact, as we crafted the story, I realized I had put more of myself into the project than usual because I felt so strongly about the message. Conveniently, Kristen had noticed this, too, so we decided to officially co-author it.
When we eventually added the brilliant illustrator Maggie Coburn to the mix, it was incredibly validating when she told us that—even though she comes from a different faith tradition—she could see herself reading our book to her daughter. Simon's story is for all children.
